I had an issue with a memory leak on Windows Server, so I erased my Mac and reinstalled MacOS. Now I am trying to monitor it to see if the issue is resolved, but I am curious how much memory usage is too much.

The amount of RAM used by the Windows server on my 14-inch MacBook Pro with a 4K monitor attached varies depending on how many windows I have open, but it usually hovers around 1.2 GB. It's hard to say how much RAM is too much without knowing your workflow.

Does anyone know if the top user of memory is Safari? Mine was growing very slowly and never releasing it. After installing it again, it is now between 400-800 MB. It used to get as high as 2 GB. The most strenuous app I use would be Garageband. I typically use Safari, Notes, Mail and Calendar with Messages all day for my workflow.

The most memory is used by Safari. Right now it was using 1.2 gb and when I closed Safari, it went down to 800 mb.
